July 17, 2010

The Auburn Police Division has received a $10,000 grant, made possible by Alabama State Representative Mike Hubbard, for the purchase of new equipment.  According to Chief Tommy Dawson the money will be used to buy 90 LED flashlights for the agency's sworn officers.  According to Chief Dawson, the flashlights are much brighter than those presently in use.  They burn longer, have a strobe mode, and offer a rapid charging system.  Chief Dawson says the new flashlights will enhance officer safety especially during building searches, traffic control, and traffic stops.
